about me

Mary Kate Abner is a New York based actor, filmmaker, and artist.

MK started her professional acting career as a child doing commercials and then began doing film, TV, and new theatrical works while attending NYU Tisch. MK has had roles on Showtime’s “City on a Hill” and Apple TV’s “Suspicion,” and she has worked as a stand-in for Sarah Snook/Shiv Roy on HBO’s “Succession.”

Some of Mary Kate’s favorite New York Theatre credits include Juliet in “Romeo and Juliet,” Brandi in “How to Defend Yourself,” and Genevieve in “The Up Above,” a new TYA piece commissioned by the NYCDOE.

Mary Kate earned a B.F.A. from NYU Tisch Drama, studying with Playwrights Horizons Theatre School and Stonestreet Studios, as well as a B.S. from NYU Steinhardt for Educational Theatre with a focus in Applied Theatre.

When not performing, Mary Kate works in the Camera Department as a Second AC and as a Personal Assistant. She also teaches musical theatre to elementary schoolers at Spotlight Kids NY and Broadway for Arts Education (BAE).

Off the stage and screen, MK is happiest when she is riding a bike, watching Greta Gerwig movies, and drinking iced lattes with her loved ones. She values open-hearted people, inappropriate laughter, and working on female coming-of-age stories.
